These Terms & Conditions ("Terms") govern your participation as a salon, spa, barbershop, nail studio, wellness venue or independent professional ("Business", "you") on the Gizie platform (the "Platform"), including the Gizie for Business app. By registering a business or accepting an invitation to a team, you agree to these Terms.

The Terms for clients govern the people who book you, and our Privacy Policy explains how personal data is handled.

Eligibility and independent status

  • You must be at least 18, and legally permitted and properly licensed to provide the services you list.
  • You operate as an independent business. Nothing in these Terms creates employment, partnership, joint venture or agency between you and Gizie, and you decide how, when and by whom your services are delivered.
  • You are solely responsible for every licence, permit, tax registration, insurance policy and health-and-safety obligation that applies to your business and your premises.
  • You are responsible for your team: their conduct on the Platform, their qualifications, their employment or contracting arrangements, and anything they do with the access you give them.

Verification (KYC)

  • Before you go live you must complete verification, which includes your trade licence, TIN, the owner's government-issued ID, any service-specific permit, and the bank or mobile-money account for payouts.
  • We may approve, reject, or ask for more information on any submission, and we may re-verify periodically or when your details change. Most accounts are reviewed within 24 hours, but we do not guarantee a turnaround.
  • Submitting false, expired or altered documents leads to rejection, suspension or a permanent ban, and may be reported to the authorities.
  • You must keep your details current — tell us when a licence is renewed, a payout account changes, or ownership of the business changes.
  • The "Verified" badge means we checked the documents you gave us. It is not an endorsement of your work, and we may remove it if your documents lapse.

Your listing and service standards

  • You are responsible for everything in your listing: service names and descriptions, duration, prices and variants, what is included, your team profiles, your photos, your branch addresses and your opening hours.
  • Photos and other media must be your own or properly licensed, must show your actual premises and work, and must not be misleading.
  • New listings and material edits may be reviewed before they go live. We may ask you to correct or replace content that is inaccurate, low quality or non-compliant.
  • Prices you publish are the prices clients pay through Gizie for those services. You must not publish one price and ask for more on the day for the same service.
  • Keep your calendar, availability windows and team working hours accurate. Availability you publish is a commitment: clients book against it and pay immediately.

Accepting and delivering bookings

  • Instant bookings are confirmed automatically from your published availability. Request bookings must be answered within the response window shown in the app; if you do not respond in time the request expires and the client is not charged.
  • Once a booking is confirmed you must deliver the service as described, at the time booked, at the price paid, with the professional booked or an equally qualified alternative the client accepts.
  • Use the Platform to record what actually happened — check the client in, mark the appointment complete, or report a no-show. These records determine payouts and dispute outcomes.
  • Persistent non-response, a high rejection rate or repeated late cancellations may reduce your visibility, remove badges, or lead to review of your account.

Prepaid bookings, fees and payouts

  • Prepaid bookings. Gizie collects the full price from the client at the time of booking and holds the funds until the service is completed. You do not collect payment for booked services directly at your counter.
  • Payouts. Your balance is transferred to your nominated bank account within 3–5 business days following a completed booking, subject to a minimum payout threshold of ETB 500.
  • Subscription and service fees. Applicable platform subscription fees and transaction processing charges are clearly displayed in your dashboard and pricing page. Any updates to platform fees will be communicated with reasonable prior notice.
  • Processing fees and refunds. Non-recoverable payment-processing fees charged by payment partners are non-refundable and will not be paid out as earnings on refunded bookings.
  • Taxes and receipts. You are solely responsible for managing your tax obligations (including VAT where applicable) and for issuing official receipts or invoices to clients as required by law.
  • Payout withholding. Payouts may be temporarily withheld or delayed in cases of disputed bookings, suspected fraudulent activity, lapsed account verification, or legal compliance mandates. You will be notified of any withholding action.
  • Direct tips and add-ons. Any cash tips or additional direct payments received from the client on-site belong entirely to you and fall outside the scope of the Platform.

Cancellations, no-shows and refunds

We set the cancellation window and no-show terms, which are displayed to clients before payment and must be clear, reasonable and consistently applied.

  • Client cancels. The client receives a full refund minus applicable service fees. Non-recoverable processing fees remain non-refundable, and you receive no payout for that booking.
  • Client no-show. Report the no-show in-app once the appointment time has passed and within the designated reporting window (contact support for late reports).
    • If the client requests a refund following a no-show, the request will be reviewed based on the provided reason.
    • Depending on the review outcome, a partial refund may be issued to the client. Otherwise, the full booking payment is transferred to you, less non-recoverable processing fees.
    • Clients may dispute reports; our investigation decision is final. False or unsubstantiated no-show reports risk charge reversals, loss of badges, or account suspension.
  • You cancel. The client receives a full refund and you receive no payout. Material failure to deliver the service or repeated unexcused cancellations impact your account standing and visibility, and may lead to suspension.
    • Exceptions: promptly report force majeure events (illness, bereavement, utility outages) to support and the client for fair handling.
  • Refund processing. Refunds are issued through Gizie to the original payment method, restricted to authorised owners or managers, and logged in an audit trail. If a refunded booking was already paid out to you, the amount will be recovered from your next payout.

Team accounts, roles and access

  • Gizie provides four roles — owner, manager, staff and receptionist — each with a different level of access to calendars, finances, refunds, team management and policies. You choose which role each person gets, and you are responsible for that choice.
  • Give each person their own account. Do not share logins, and remove access promptly when someone leaves your business.
  • Owners and managers can see business finances; staff see only their own schedule, earnings and tips. Do not use role access to view client information you do not need for your work.
  • Everything done through your team's accounts is treated as done by your business.

Client information and privacy

  • Client details you receive through Gizie — name, phone number, appointment history, notes — may be used only to deliver and administer that client's appointments with you, and to meet your own legal obligations.
  • You must not use client data for your own marketing without a lawful basis and the client's consent, must not sell or share it, and must not export it to move clients off the Platform.
  • Treatment notes may be health-related data. Record only what you need to serve the client safely, keep it accurate, and keep it confidential within your team.
  • You are an independent controller of the client records you keep for your own purposes and must comply with Ethiopia's Personal Data Protection Proclamation and any other data protection law that applies to you, including responding to your clients' requests. Our respective roles are described in the Privacy Policy.
  • Tell us without undue delay if client data you hold through Gizie is lost, exposed or accessed without authorisation.
  • You may block a client from booking you online — for example after repeated no-shows — but you must not discriminate against clients on grounds prohibited by law.

Communicating with clients

  • Communicate through the Platform. A client's contact details are provided so you can deliver their appointment, not for unsolicited marketing.
  • Do not solicit clients to book or pay outside Gizie, and do not add Platform clients to marketing lists without their consent.
  • Messages, reminders and notes exchanged through the Platform are stored on our systems and are not end-to-end encrypted. We may access and retain them to investigate disputes, complaints and safety concerns, to prevent fraud and circumvention, for quality assurance, and to comply with the law — as described in the Privacy Policy.
  • Abusive, discriminatory or unsafe conduct towards a client will result in immediate suspension.

Reviews and performance

  • Reviews come only from clients who completed a booking with you. You cannot edit or delete them, but you may respond publicly and may report a review that breaches our guidelines.
  • Do not incentivise, buy, filter or fake reviews, and do not pressure a client to change or withdraw one. Doing so may lead to removal of reviews, loss of badges or suspension.
  • Your rating, response time, acceptance rate, cancellation rate and no-show record affect your ranking in search, your badges, and your eligibility for featured placement.

Promotions, loyalty and featured placement

  • Promo codes, discounts, memberships and loyalty perks you create are your commercial offers: you fund them, and you must honour them exactly as published.
  • Offers must be genuine. Do not raise a price in order to advertise a discount from it.
  • Featured placement and other paid promotion are optional, are labelled to clients where required, and do not change how genuine reviews or ratings are displayed.
  • You grant Gizie a non-exclusive, royalty-free licence to use your business name, logo, listing content and photos to promote your listing and the Platform. You can ask us to stop using them in our own marketing at any time; we will stop within a reasonable period.

Compliance and content standards

  • You must comply with all applicable law — licensing, hygiene and public health, consumer protection, employment, advertising and tax.
  • Products and equipment you use must be lawful, safe and fit for purpose, and you must follow the manufacturer's instructions and any patch-test requirements.
  • You must not list services that are unlawful, that require a medical licence you do not hold, or that are outside the beauty and wellness categories Gizie supports.
  • We may moderate, hide or remove listings and content that breach these standards, and may require corrective action before you can continue taking bookings.

Liability and indemnity

You are solely responsible for the safety, legality and quality of the services you provide and for the condition of your premises.

You agree to indemnify and hold Gizie harmless against claims, losses, damages, fines and reasonable costs arising from your services, your acts or omissions, your team, your breach of these Terms, your breach of data protection or consumer law, or a third-party claim that your content infringes their rights.

Subject to liability that cannot lawfully be excluded, Gizie's total liability to you in any 12-month period is limited to the total commission we retained from your bookings in that period, and Gizie is not liable for lost profits, lost bookings, or indirect or consequential loss.

Suspension and termination

  • We may suspend, restrict or permanently close your account for breach of these Terms, failed or lapsed verification, fraud, payment abuse, safety concerns, serious or repeated client complaints, or sustained poor performance.
  • Where the situation allows, we will tell you the reason and give you the chance to fix it. Where there is a risk to client safety we may act immediately.
  • You may appeal a suspension through the Platform's appeal process; we will review it and respond.
  • You may close your account at any time. You must first honour or properly cancel confirmed bookings, and settle any amounts owed. We will pay out earnings you have properly earned, less any refunds and recoveries.
  • Accounts inactive for 12 months may be archived and delisted.

Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms, including commission structures and plan fees. Material changes will be communicated in the app or by email with reasonable notice before they take effect, and the effective date above will change. Continuing to take bookings after the effective date means you accept the updated Terms. If you do not accept a change, you may close your account before it takes effect.

Governing law and disputes

These Terms are governed by the laws of the Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia. We will try to resolve any dispute with you directly and in good faith. Failing that, the competent courts of Addis Ababa, Ethiopia have exclusive jurisdiction.
